CHARLOTTE, N.C. (November 25, 2019) – Across the Carolinas, motorists hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday will be filling up with lower or similar prices from last year.
“We saw gas prices decrease on the week, which is a good indication we could experience even cheaper prices ahead of Thanksgiving,” said Tiffany Wright, AAA Carolinas spokesperson. “As you travel to your destinations, don’t be surprised to see prices fluctuate from area to area as stations engage in price wars to compete for customers during the heavy holiday traffic. Shop smart for low pump prices to encourage other retailers to keep prices low.”.”
Today’s average of $2.37 in North Carolina is one cent less than a week ago, three cents less than a month ago and 9 cents less than this time last year. South Carolina’s $2.28 average is two cents more than last week, one cent less than last month and four cents more than this time last year.
Nationally the Thanksgiving week last year saw the national gas price average decrease a nickel between Monday and Thursday. Today’s national average is $2.59 compared to last year’s holiday weekend average of $2.57.
