to 5/18/2012 | Bechtler Museum of Modern Art | Developed in conjunction with the Charlotte chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art’s Architecture + Film series investigates themes in modern and contemporary architecture through the lens of film. The event reception begins at 6 p.m., the discussion and film screening at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and include access to museum galleries, light bites and one drink ticket. May 18 - "How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster." The documentary follows architect Norman Foster’s unending quest to improve the quality of life through design. Foster is the founder and chairman of Foster + Partners. The firm’s work includes the Beijing Airport, Millau Viaduct in France, the Swiss Re in London, the Great Court at the British Museum in London and the Hearst Tower in New York.

to 7/4/2012 | Charlotte, NC | Come see the world-famous Shriners 4th of July parade in Charlotte for free! The whole family will enjoy this spectacular demonstration of patriotism as the Shriners take to the streets of Uptown Charlotte with marching bands, clowns & tiny cars!
Shriners International is a fraternity of men who believe in fun, fellowship and philanthropy. Their official philanthropy is Shriners Hospitals for Children. They will be coming to Charlotte from July 1-5 for their 138th Imperial Session.

The 2012 International Festival of Raleigh is an annual celebration that offers 3 days of international performances, food, games, art and cultural exhibits at the Raleigh Convention Center. Over 50 different groups from around the world participate to showcase their cuisine, traditional dance and music; to share traditions and to celebrate the Triangle’s unique diversity. Venues include:
Main Stage: traditional ethnic dances on, performed by artists in authentic dress
Sidewalk Cafes: culinary offerings from around the globe.
Cultural Exhibits: exhibits about the rich history and traditions of many different cultures.
International Bazaar: shopping for global arts and crafts.
Biergarten Stage: bands and musical performances from around the world.
Sophia’s Corner: international games, face-painting, bouncy castle and other fun kids’ stuff.
Demonstration Booths: interactive demos and classes on international cooking, dance and crafts.
